Well, the people have spoken. Congrats to all the winners. Not too happy with the 8th and 3rd, but believe we have enough to maybe make some difference. Hopefully Adams will take this vote as "one more chance" to make things right in Barry County? If not, the people will target him and he will go down as Tripp did. Wayne, you need to listen to your constituents and the experts, as in 911, and do the right thing. Ferris I don't know. Hope he is not glued to Jim Carr. Someone, please say he isn't?

Could have a recount in 7th, but Wing would probably not show up LOL If you wanna a wing now you gotta go to BW3 on Westnedge. See ya Tom!

All in all, we made a difference I would say!

Hear the Prosecutor is not doing well either. I'm not tuning in direct, just watching TV.

Prosecutor race is down to the wire with Evans leading- last I checked 89% of precincts in. Both Charlton Park requests going down as well. Looks like your next State Rep. is Brian Calley.

WWMT reports 100% of precincts in and Evans wins. Will update when I can catch the hard numbers.

Congratulations MC! Now can we get serious about the announcement on January 1 of the Committee leadership, and assignments? Time will fly!
Welcome on board, Jeff, Keith, and Mark. It is now time to shift out of the "vote for me" and "Rah,Rah, Rah" and get down to the serious business of making it happen, for the whole County.

One of the first orders of business will be to make sure there has been a Resolution properly creating the Barry County Parks and Recreation Commission out of the old and obsolete Charlton Park Board. The thick book states that this organization needs to conduct a "needs survey" to determine what the taxpayers really need and not what the Steam Club wants.
Hold your hats! The next step, after that, outlined in the "Guide to Michigan County Government" is to create a long-term Barry County Parks and Recreation Plan!

Not to panic, since Dave Hatfield, Clare Tripp, Ken Neil, and others are convinced that they can "develop the Paul Henry Thornapple Linear Park Trail".

I hope they can come up with a clearly defined and detailed millage request (with actual dollar amounts, like a budget) that only expects a blank check for a couple of years, instead of a life-time of welfare.

Let's put their feet to the fire before they slip off the hook, m.c.

Jeff and Mark did a great job with their campaigns. It will be interesting to see what more Mark can do that he hasnt done already. Has he used all his trump cards? He cannot necessarily expect all of Tripps supporters to vote for him in November.

The real test for Mark will be to present a coherent vision for the future of Barry County before David does.
Mark has an excellent understanding of the direction we need to take to reduce crime. It doesn't include new lockers in the jail. He may want to pander to the gun crowd by promising new lockers, but it didn't work for Clare.
Mark should emphasize that we will need a few bucks more to fund the Adult Drug Court in the future and financial planning will require more than blindly agreeing with Michael Brown. In most cases it appears that we may have a literate crowd coming up that will actually do some homework.
An ordinance to pay farmers to continue farming will soon be produced by Williams Farm Bureau and Works. No serious consideration will be given to converting farmland from Ag-Development (AR) to honest and sincere agricultural occupations (AA). There is currently almost no land in Barry County that is zoned Agricultural (AA). Perhaps Jeff can get a shot at the Planning and Zoning Commission Chairmanship and get a seat on the Charlton Park Board by default?
Commissioner Nevins will probably wish he had a strong Democrat opponent in November. He had the misfortune of being assigned to both the Charlton Park Board and the 911/Central Dispatch Board by the Chair-marm, and as quoted in the Banner, he may be required to give "serious attention" to these two assignments. Both conditions need some serious attention during the lame goose remainder of the term.

I am not worried for Mark in Nov., it's still a GOP leaning district.

It's Friday. Canvassers should certify the results today. Wonder if Wing will ask for a recount? $30 and he propels the 7th District in a wait and see game. Nervous eyes will be watching the clerk's office I bet.

If errors exist, they most certainly would have to be at the absentee ballot level. I think those things have been counted a number of times. I sure hope Van N has some watchers on hand for the recount. Wing might end up spending more time working the recount than fulfilling his commissioner duties. but, he'll probably show up late by 10 minutes and miss the entire process.

Boggsone said...

Has Wing ever fulfilled his commissioner duties?

Jay said...

I guess it depends on what your criteria is for being a commissioner.

Jay said...

Anyone hear if Wing has filed for a recount?

Jay said...

Talked to the Clerk and Wing has filed for a recount. Get the chicken ready folks.

So has the candidate for Prarieville Twp. Supervisor.

August 8th fun is still continuing...

Jay: How many dead folks do you think got their vote in?

Jay said...

You mean dead folks vote for chicken wings?

I doubt Tom is that sophisticated to figure out a Chicago-style voting scheme.

Those of us who voted by Absentee Ballot are not guaranteed to outlive Election Day. If that would work, I would vote for Alfred E. Neuman for President first thing Monday morning!

Jay said...

Anyone hear any word on the Wing-count? lol.

I know Jeff is having a victory celebration! Reading the Banner, it seems docile Mr Adams starting to speak out (for first time) and "raining on shoes." Must have gotten some backbone from the small turnout election results (no popular mandate Wayne). Ticking some people off! Nieves will be back strong next time, so keep "raining" Wayne!
