87th District race- update

Rumors abound that Mark Doster is no longer running for Gary Newell's open seat. If true, it's not much of a surprise and it probably won't have much effect on the race.

As always, we rely on readers like you to help supply us with up-to-date info so please drop us a line if you have any hot tips, and thanks for reading. Also, the site's stat counter shows an amazing amount of traffic for a blog that mostly deals with small town politics. Be sure to spread the word and tell your friends and neighbors and we'll keep trying to entertain and inform.

The latest about Mark Doster AKA "Sewer Rat" the self appointed Manager of the Southwest Barry County Sewer and Water is that if he was given a raise in pay $5,000 and benifits he would drop out of the 87th District race.

Typical of Mark Doster. Don't believe he has found his way in this life. Attorney, no office. Runs here, runs there, never stays in one place, except his farmhouse. Funny guy, not in the Stand-up way. Not really a leader.

I've got the goods on the county commissioners...at least some of them...the bad ones. This one's bad..this one's good...this one's bad...this one's good...this one's BAD!! I'm an insider...you might say embeded...call me "deep tonsils",
even though I've had a tonilectomy. You're right on Tubbs...he only wants the Nevin's job for the benefits. He told me he's gonna run a positive campaign...positive cash flow that is. ...if you want to learn a dirty secret...then aknowlege me...heh..heh...heh...deep tonsils

Please mention me in your next blog so that I know you're listening

You mean seat now available, right? Newell's occupancy of the seat was about as productive as his seat at the Hastings State Police Post, invisible. But, always filled the seat at local eateries to socialize with his State buddies, DeBore, Neil, Nystrom! Let's just hope he really retires this time, to the Ole Highway Patrol Farm somewhere in Smallville. Bags of peanuts are $1.00. You can feed the critters. LuAnne runs the concession stand.

In reading the Detroit News today, 3-26-06, it appears Mr Newell has over $18,000 in his war chest, may climb before he gets out on parole! I suggest he donate it to the City Commission, not the 911 Admin Board, to be earmarked only towards a State Police 800 mhz Radio Tower at the highest point in the Hastings City area (it's a start on cost). I believe he was the local Post Commander (have to check) when these "mobile" only radios were shoved down our throats by the former Sheriff. Now City officers are bonked all over the City. Kazoo City had to put up half a million in new towers, reflectors, etc., to make their MSP radios work, andit is heard they still bonk. Does a HPD officer have to be killed before action will be taken?

Portable radios are 5 watt, the farther you get away from a Tower, or when you get in a heavy steel or obstructed enclosure (Pennock ER) you get bonked (can't reach tower and therefore 911.

Do you have to actually "run" for Newell's seat, I mean, it just sits there unoccupied.
