While I was out, it appears a new West Michigan political blog has formed. It looks a bit familiar but it should provide some interesting commentary and a place for West Michigan's growing progressive community to congregate. Phil has an unfortunate name.
His Blog though, seems to have a good article about newbie Fred Johnson. Not my district, but I will be keeping an eye on anyone with a fighting chance to unseat Hoekstra.
Response to Maude in the "Compulsory News".
Maude you are correct. WBCH is accurate and they throughly review the facts before it's put out on the air. The voice of "BCH", honest Dave, doesn't get sucked in by the barney's and fatboy's who thrive on headlines that convict prior to completion of any investigation.
DARling barney our sheriff, sure took the county commissioners on a ride with his report that made headlines in the bird-cage last thursday. barney didn't mention the missing of hundreds of dollars from his lunch fund (no public reporting or prosecution - could it be embezzlement?);
Or how he had hired the county commissioner who chair's the courts and safety committee to construct the detectives room and built the retaining wall, without barney or the commissioner following the "counties" three bid policy or how the commissioner(builder) failed to adhere to health and safety codes or even obtain the proper construction permits;
Or how barney hired an electrician who was unlicensed and the electrican was later fined by the state;
Or how barney allows his janitor to plow his home and the janitors driveway with the county vehicle and on company;
Or how barney permits the janitor to repair county commissioners vehicles on company time in the jails garage;
Or how barney drives his family around town and takes his son to and from school in the county vehicle;
Or that there has been 3 suicides in the jail and several attempts since he's been sheriff. This NEVER happened in the Woods and DeBoer administration;
Or why two jail administrators have quit in the last two years;
Or why the michigan department of corrections have found our jail in violation of jail codes, again this never occurred in the DeBoer administration;
Or why barney hired his croney and friend to replace a seniored deputy at the court house and now the county is in litigation with the Union and it is costing the county thousands of dollars to hire an attorney to defend yet another law suit;
Or why the moral at the sheriff's department is at a all time low;
His protectors; the commissioners, prosecutor and the banner look the other way with a "I see nothing" attitude.
The dumbing down of our county is going to cost us many a taxpaper dollar when the right people(Henry) exposes the truth, and I assure you it is coming.
Eventually, we will all pay for the commissioners sins of looking the other way, because they too are writing there own obituaties.

Are you questioning the media intrigue or the possible resemblence of our DARling barney and Detroit's mayor Kwame Kilpatrick or Barry County prosecutor and North Carolina district attorney Mike Nifong?
Only telling half the story to the public, commissioners and news media is intended deception and political smoke and mirrors. The paper should investigate and the commissioners should be enraged. The information is fact and comes directly from employee's who are afraid they'll lose their job's if they go public and expose the real world at DARling barney's place.
Maybe we are holding barney to high of standards. Remember, you can't expect everything from a person who only has a black belt in karate and graduated at the bottom of his basic police class. Well maybe a couple of kutto's.

How is that embezzlement investigation coming, not the one at the county clerks, you know the other one, where the 911 director "embezzled" all this money from us the taxpayers.
Barry Co. Barney now has his elite force of detectives hot on the trail of another group of county employees that have been named and judged quilty by Barney and I see the fine chair of the county commissioners. So much for what the founding fathers wrote years ago about being innocence until proven guilty.
Maybe the great comm from the west will get the bid for the new roof on the jail, I am sure it would be a sealed bid.
PW you should quit worrying about such national or state issues and focus like you did for two years on the runnings of Barry Co.
Then again you got what you wanted the former sheriff gone, the former pros. gone, and the 911 director force out by unfounded allegations that now will cost us the taxpayers many a dollar that could have gone for something that was important. You know like better roads, or maybe a little more help for those who are in need.
You and your good friend dave young have done us all a great service.
